Decorative Dahlias grow quickly and grow fairly tall, always with vibrant deep green foliage. Decorative dahlias, like others, bloom from summer to frost. The bulbs are actually called dahlia tubers and look a lot like a bunch of large green beans or carrots.Dahlias are enjoying a huge renaissance in popularity as gardeners realize their value in providing a riot of color from mid-summer to the first frosts. Just as many perennials are beginning to flag in the heat of summer, dahlias are coming into their own, reveling in the warmth to produce wave after wave of their exuberant blooms. These double-flowered, decorative types are highly ornamental. Giant blooms of lavender pink with white base.
